Single Tooth Implants in Murphy, Wylie, Heath, Lucas, Irving & Southlake, TX
One missing tooth changes more than your smile. You start chewing on one side, you catch yourself covering your mouth in photos, and the teeth next to the gap slowly begin to drift. A single tooth implant puts all of that back where it belongs: a new tooth that is anchored in your jaw, looks like it grew there, and lets you bite into an apple without thinking twice.
At Citrus Smiles Dental Studio, we place and restore dental implants at our offices in Murphy, Wylie, Heath, Lucas, Irving, and Southlake, TX. From the 3D scan to the final crown, your care stays with one team, so you are not shuttled between a surgeon across town and a dentist who has never met you.
A Tooth That Looks, Feels, and Works Like Yours
A single tooth implant has three parts that work together:
- The implant post: a small titanium post placed in the jawbone where the root used to be. Bone grows around it over a few months and locks it in place.
- The abutment: a connector that sits on top of the post and holds your new tooth.
- The crown: a custom-made porcelain or zirconia tooth, shaded and shaped to blend in with the teeth around it.
Because the implant replaces the root as well as the visible tooth, it stimulates the jawbone the way a natural tooth does. That helps keep the bone and the shape of your face from changing over time, which bridges and partial dentures cannot do.
Why Patients Choose an Implant Over a Bridge or Partial
You have more than one way to fill a gap. Here is how the most common options compare:
| Single Tooth Implant | Traditional Bridge | Removable Partial | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Neighboring teeth | Left untouched | Shaved down to hold crowns | Clasps rest on them |
| Jawbone | Stimulated and preserved | Continues to shrink under the gap | Continues to shrink |
| Daily care | Brush and floss like a natural tooth | Special floss threaders | Removed and cleaned daily |
| Eating | No food restrictions once healed | Mostly normal | Can shift with sticky or hard foods |
| Long-term outlook | Designed to last for decades with good care | Often replaced every 10 to 15 years | Relines and replacements over time |
An implant is not the right fit for everyone, and we will tell you honestly if a bridge or another option makes more sense for your mouth, health, or budget.
Are You a Candidate for a Single Tooth Implant?
Most adults who are missing a tooth, or who have a tooth that needs to come out, can get an implant. Good candidates generally have:
- Healthy gums, or gum disease that has been treated
- Enough jawbone to support the post, or are open to a bone graft if more is needed
- Overall health that allows for minor oral surgery
- A willingness to keep up with brushing, flossing, and routine checkups
Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, and some medications can slow healing. That does not automatically rule you out. It means we plan around it.
Your Single Tooth Implant, Step by Step
- Consultation and 3D imaging. We take a 3D CBCT scan to see your bone height, nerve position, and sinus, then talk through your options and costs before anything is scheduled.
- Guided placement. Using your scan, we plan the exact angle and depth of the implant. Placement is done under local anesthetic, and sedation is available if you are nervous.
- Healing. Over roughly three to six months, the bone fuses to the implant. You will wear a temporary tooth in the meantime, so you are never walking around with a gap.
- Your final crown. Once the implant is stable, we attach the abutment and your custom crown, check your bite, and make any final adjustments.
In some cases, a tooth can be removed and an implant placed in the same visit. We will let you know at your consultation whether that is an option for you.
Experienced Implant Dentists Under One Roof
Our implant team includes Dr. Mahima Gupta, a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology, Dr. Neil Patel, and prosthodontist Dr. V. Sruthi Surabathula. Planning, surgery, and the final crown all happen with the same team, which means fewer appointments, fewer handoffs, and one group of people who know your case from start to finish.
What Does a Single Tooth Implant Cost?
The cost depends on whether you need an extraction, a bone graft, or other preparation, and on the type of crown. We give you a written treatment plan with the full cost before you commit, our billing team checks what your insurance will cover, and we offer financing so you can spread the cost into monthly payments. Be sure to check our special offers for current implant savings.
Waiting has a cost too. The longer a gap stays open, the more bone is lost and the more the nearby teeth shift, which can make treatment more involved later on.
