Snap-On Dentures in Murphy, Wylie, Heath, Lucas, Irving & Southlake, TX

If your denture slips when you talk, rocks when you chew, or only stays put with a layer of paste, you are not alone, and you do not have to live with it. Snap-on dentures, also called implant overdentures, click securely onto a few dental implants placed in your jaw. They stay put while you eat, talk, and laugh, then pop out easily at night for cleaning.

Citrus Smiles Dental Studio offers snap-on dentures at our offices in Murphy, Wylie, Heath, Lucas, Irving, and Southlake, TX. Your implant placement and your new denture are handled by the same team, from the first scan to the final fit.

What Are Snap-On Dentures?

A snap-on denture looks like a regular denture, but its underside has small attachments that click onto dental implants. Most lower snap-on dentures use two to four implants. Upper dentures typically use four or more, and in many cases the plate that normally covers the roof of your mouth can be reduced, so you can taste food more fully.

denturesThere are two main styles:

Ball or Locator-Retained Overdentures

Each implant has a small attachment on top, and matching caps inside the denture snap onto them. This is the most common and most affordable design, and the snap-in parts can be easily replaced as they wear.

Bar-Retained Overdentures

A thin, custom-made metal bar connects the implants along your gumline, and clips inside the denture fasten onto the bar. This spreads chewing forces across all of the implants and gives an especially firm hold.

Snap-On Dentures vs. Traditional Dentures

Snap-On Dentures Traditional Dentures
How they stay in Click onto implants Suction and adhesive
Stability when eating Secure, with far less movement Can slip or lift with chewy and hard foods
Adhesive needed No Often
Jawbone Implants help preserve the bone Bone continues to shrink, loosening the fit over time
Upper palate Can often be reduced or open Covers the roof of the mouth
Removable for cleaning Yes Yes

Benefits of Implant Overdentures

  • No more slipping. Speak, laugh, and eat without worrying your denture will move.
  • Goodbye, adhesive. The implants do the holding, so there is no paste to apply or scrub away.
  • More foods back on the menu. Patients often find they can comfortably eat steak, raw vegetables, and corn on the cob again.
  • Fewer sore spots. Because the denture is not rubbing as it moves, gum irritation is greatly reduced.
  • Fewer implants than fixed options. Snap-on dentures typically require fewer implants than a permanent full-arch bridge, which makes them a more affordable upgrade.
  • Easy to clean. Snap them out, brush them, and snap them back in.

Who Are Snap-On Dentures Right For?

Snap-on dentures are a great fit if you already wear a full denture and are frustrated by how it fits, if you are about to lose your remaining teeth, or if you want implant stability at a lower cost than a fixed option like All-on-4. Even patients who have worn dentures for years and have experienced some bone loss can often qualify, sometimes with the help of a bone graft. In some cases, your current denture can be modified to fit the implants. Learn more on our denture stabilization page.

How Snap-On Dentures Are Made at Citrus Smiles

  1. Consultation and 3D scan. We look at your bone, your current denture, and your goals, then recommend how many implants you need and which attachment style suits you.
  2. Implant placement. The implants are placed in a single visit under local anesthetic, with sedation available. You can usually continue wearing a softened denture while you heal.
  3. Healing. The implants bond with your jawbone over the next few months.
  4. Attaching your denture. We fit the attachments into your new or modified denture, snap it into place, and adjust your bite until it feels right.

Implant and Denture Care, All in One Place

Snap-on dentures combine implant surgery and custom prosthetics, and our team covers both. Dr. Mahima Gupta, a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology, Dr. Neil Patel, and prosthodontist Dr. V. Sruthi Surabathula work together so your implants and your denture are designed as one system.

Cost and Financing

The cost of snap-on dentures depends on the number of implants, the attachment style, and whether your current denture can be used. We give you a written treatment plan up front, check your insurance benefits, and offer financing so you can make manageable monthly payments.
